1969 Convertible Value
This is my first of I am sure many posts. I am wondering if I could get your advice about a 1969 Camaro convertible, SS clone, not a matching numbers car. I paid $18,500 for it. The body is solid as a rock, has a 350, 4 speed, top and interior is decent. The paint job is in good shape but getting older. The paint is enamel and was completed in the late 1980's. The one drawback that is making me wonder if it is still a good deal is that it smokes when I get on the gas, so I am thinking it is the rings. So I am probably going to pull the motor and put a crate 350 in it for $2,000-$2,500. I figure between the new motor, some misc. things and the cost of the car I would end up having about $21,500 into it. I think it would still be a good investment but am just looking for reassurance. Any guess what you think it would be worth after putting a new motor in? Thanks for your help!

That's still a great deal on a convertible Camaro.. I would probably adjust the budget and plan on the things you can not see yet and your probably going to be closer to 25k and that's still a great deal on a 69 Convertible that's would then be in great shape... Check out classic industries and national parts depot now before you get started. They offer a credit card you get a deal on at Classic when ordering parts and using there credit card...

As Ice suggests, if you're gonna buy from an aftermarket suppier, use thier card for the discount and GO FOR IT!
Congrats on the good deal. We are only here for a short time, enjoy the journey with the new ride.
