Which water pump to use?
It looks like an engine rebuild is in the cards for the 327 in my '68.
Although the existing water pump has no issues, I want to put in a new pump...given the relatively low cost as compared to a rebuild and compared to the amount I will be spending on an engine rebuild.
I have seen water pumps as low as $25 and ones that topple $250.
I do not need one that is date coded..I do want a reliable unit that will last a long time.
I have seen a few on ebay made by Howard Stuart. These are high flow water pumps....which sounds good to me. Anyone have experience with these water pumps?
Any other recommendations, suggestions, warnings?
Thanks!
Vic

i had a high flow one on my 355 in my chevelle and it was nothing but problems trashed about 5 thermostats from the high end 25 dollar ones to the cheapo 5 dollar ones ripped off the pump and bought a stock one with good warranty from orieleys on it and no more issues no overheating etc...

Cadman, just curious...is that the original motor? The reason I ask is because the price of a new block w/warranty is equivalent in many cases to the price of rebuild. I crossed this path no too long ago and decided to get GM 350/290 instead of going the rebuild route.
I didn't have the original motor, but even if I did I still would have bought a block and put the original on a stand. As for Water Pumps I have always had good luck with Weiand.
