Default How much is it worth

My uncle is if old age now and is selling off his cars. He has a 1967 camaro rs and I'm not sure what a fair price would be as I am new to this. The vin states its a coupe v8. However, my uncle took the car apart to work on the body and paint years ago and never did it, and in addition misplaced the cowltag. He advised it was an RS with 327 auto. Please advise on what would b a good price. Car has no engine or transmission but all other parts appear to be there.

A shame you do not have a cowl tag. Without the original engine and the cowl tag value all comes down to condition of the parts. This will never be a high end show car but if it is solid it would be good for Pro-street or Pro-touring car.

Torn a part shell with a clean title could be worth anywhere from $2500-$8000, depending on the condition. $2500 would be a shell not worth fixing (parts or title car) the 8K would be a car ready to be put back together.

The was a time back in 2008 that car would have been worth a lot more.

It was stored outside covered by plastic cover. There is some rust but appears to be minimal. The body is intact, no holes serious rust issues. Doors look good as does the hood. I will post pictures when I get home later tonight. Hopefully he can find the cowltag but I seriously doubt it. Would this be a vehicle worth fixing up or should I just pass?

Depends on what you want? If you want to build a custom dream car and it is solid then yes. If you are just worried about how much it will be worth when it is done you would be better off finding a numbers matching SS that needs restored. An SS that needs restored is going to cost 5-7K more to buy the project but it will be worth 15-20K more when done.

He's selling for $6500 and is willing to sell to me for $4500. Should I purchase it or pass? Any advice would be appreciated.

If it has all the RS parts its worth the $4500 easy, $6500 would be a good deal if the body needed only a small amount of metal work. The question is are you ready for the project of this size.

If you bought it and changed your mind I think it would sell fast $5500. So you have little risk.

You might want to remove that link, I have seen cars bought out from under people while they thought about it.

Thanks for the info. He does have all the parts and even has all the seats in fairly good shape. I'm going to go for it. Always wanted one of these cars. Any advice on where to begin with this? what upgrades do I need to make to suspension, rear axle ...ect

You should start a project thread. As for what upgrade? that is going to depend on what you want and what budget you plan.

To some guys all that matters is how fast it will go in the 1/4 miles. AKA "Pro Stock" or how well it does on the autocross "Pro Tour" or something that is just a nice Sunday driver. You could even go with a fuel injected 6.0 LS motor with a 6 speed and make it a power tour ultra dependable type car.

I have know guys that would get that car on the road and dependable for 5K complete and I have known guy that dropped 12k just on the paint job. Realistic budget is critical to the success of any project. Project can get way out of hand. Most project that never get finished are due to poor planning at the beginning or poor sticking to the plan.
