Hey, I need some help as some of you know I have a 1967 camaro. Well anyways here is my issue I blew the motor in my car and replaced it with a oem rebuilt with 60k on the clock.I have headers and big chambered heads also a hot cam. all of it is tune right and timed and everytime I run it for awhile and shut it off it wont start, I even got a heat shield on my starter.

Check to make sure you have good solid ground connections; battery to block, block to body, body to frame (or any inter-connected combination thereof). Might as well check the positive connection too. Also make sure the wires to the starter are shielded, or are as far away as possible from the exhaust. Heated up wires makes for more resistance. You can also check with a volt meter at the starter both when hot and cold to see if the "start" wire is still carrying 12 volts.

And the water probably runs down and douses the starter to cool it off some. Then yeah it's the headers, still making the starter too hot. You might want to try putting on a starter heat wrap.
