having it rebuilt, or it is rebuilt?
if it is finished, why did you paint under the valve covers?
more than likely the paint will flake off and contaminate your oil

Can't see the images, but,
if the inside of block is painted, it is used to make the inside 'slicker' for faster drainage - old racer's trick.
Rustoleum enamel was used, primer I think.
But, just like painting alum, the paint is a coating and it retains the heat and does not let it dissipate to the oil,
coolant runs hotter and oil is cooler to cool the bearings.

I know what you are talking about with the paint. I did that back in my racing days, but only under the intake.
this is just overspray on the valve springs and rockers

Thanks, Flat, if an overspray, I wouldn't worry.
If a dedicated coating, as in finished spraying, then the paint should be removed as springs will overheat and weaken in time.
Springs being used is just like the metal coat hangar and bending it until it breaks - fatigue is the term.
Oil cools the spring, no cooling, higher temps, loss of pressure.

Common event was spraying the underneath of the manifold trying to make the fuel/air cooler.

Hello all, Thanks for the replies. As usual, they are very helpful.

Everett, you helped me out a few years ago with the electrical when I first purchased the car, You were kind enough to send me a voltage meter and the expert guidance to figure out the problem. I still tell my friends about your kind gesture and I pay it forward every chance I get. You have a remarkable amount of knowledge and I appreciate you taking the time to share it.

I went to the shop to talk to the owner. 1.) He did paint underneath the manifold and inside the block. 2.) It is an over spray on the rockers and springs. He says he does this on all of his motors and not one has come back with an issue. He has rebuilt well over a hundred and came highly recommended. That being said, I had him remove the over spray from the springs and rockers and saw the finished product to make sure. They should be finishing it up this week. I will post more pics. later.

I wish I could get my car back together. Seems like every step forward results in 5 steps back....Congrats on the rebuild. Did you step up the motor any or go stock?
