Default 69 Z/28 Refurb

I have been a member for a while but not posted much, but I am now moving forward on my 1969 Z/28 that I have owned for almost 30 years. The car has been patiently sitting in the garage covered up, while other priorities have moved forward. Those other priorities seen in the pictures are now anxiously awaiting to see how much fun these cars are to ride in. My plans are to refurbish the front suspension, have some of the paint mishaps fixed, freshen the engine put the engine compartment back to what it is supposed to look like. After all it is an original z/28! I am really look for some help with exhaust suggestions. I know it didn't come with headers, but I just can't bring myself to putting manifolds back on it. So anyone have any good headers to suggest? Looking at ceramic coated but I want something that will clear the steering box and hopefully give better access to the #7 plug than the 30 year old headers that were removed. Also trying to decide weather to go with the old school stainless chambered exhaust or go with a more modern X pipe with two mufflers also in stainless. Sorry for the long post
Mark

Nice project and looks like your worker bees will need constant supervsion....
If She were mine, I would use Hooker Competiton headers and the X-pipe exhaust.

Hi Mark, if it were me and I wanted to maintain originality although you may not like the stock manifolds there really hard to change if everything else on the car is original, or like kind quality. If you don't mind stepping away from changing realize, your going to find it easier and easier to buy other than as you go along. Each time from here on its easy to say well I compromised the exhaust so just this now and so on. But if you want to change the aftermarket is alive with so many great choices in exhaust as long as you buy for a 69 Camaro it will fit. Me personally mine is not stock and I went pro-touring so nothing is stock about mine but the body just about anymore. I like the X pipe exhaust, buy full exhaust and its one of those things you truly get what you pay for... For 100 dollars less, your spark plugs are a PITA to get in and out. Just my 2 cents..

Mark, I have ceramic headers from Summit on my car with the transverse stock exhaust system on my 69 Z/28. If I had it to do over I'd put manifolds on the car.
Nothing wrong with the headers except changing a few plugs.

I would love to see some pics of your set up. Just trying to get some ideas.
