Default '68 - Installing Front Bumper - Corner mount

Hello all,

I am installing a front bumper on my '68 and am struggling with the installing the corner mounts. These are the mounts that go between the upper and lower sections of the front fender. There appears to be a gap that is supposed to accommodate the mount but it looks like the mount plate is thicker than the gap and the curved part of the plate hits the fender before the gap fully closes. Needless to say, there is a pretty big gap between the two fender pieces in the front and it looks bad. see pics below. The parts I got came from Camaro Central. Are there different types of these mounts or different qualities that exist? Or, did I do something wrong? Help........

Thanks,

Hank

I think I solved my own problem. Looks like I might actually have a 1967 front end on this car as I just remembered that the 68's had lights added to the front side fender and this car does not have them.

Just to give a bit more color on the history of this car, the car was actually born as a '68 Firebird. The owner prior to me started to convert it to what I thought was a '68 Camaro. he changed the rear light panel and entire front to Camaro. My son and I decided to keep it that way. We want to at least make it a '68, so I bought all the grill and light pieces for a Standard '68.

If I am thinking right, I think I should be able to just change the corner mounts to '67 mounts and still use the same bumper since the bumper was made for both 67's and 68's. I hope the front grill fits...

Will look at adding the side lights later.
