Default 67 camaro Do I have an early build 67 or late?

No data tag on car, and I am trying to buy a deck lid for the car. They are asking if it is an early build 67 or late build? I thought that these deck lids fir 67-69. What would be the difference? Would it be the underside skin/support? Is it the latch area. Had one decklid from AMD and with the latch attached deck lid would not close. After comparing it to the original, I found that the countour of the rib running side to side where the latch attaches was not countoured right at all. Sent that one back. Now looking at Heartbeat City's decklid at $540.00 shipped. Classic industries is also asking if its a early or late model 67, when I called them. Most these palces have these deck lids on backorder and have for some time. Can i tell from the vin number if I was to call the GM dealership, or is there another way to tell? Seems neither place can tell me what to look for to tell production date. Trim tag is gone, so I was hoping the vin number might work. If the only difference would be the inner structure, we are not totally concerend about that, as long as once the latch is installed the deck lid closes like it should. I am too scared to try another 129.00 deck lid. Original has rust at seams, so that is why we are getting another. I will also be adding a spoiler, and I am aware they were not original on 67 cars. Heartbeat city said they would throw in the template for adding the spoiler. Thanks for any advice.

1967's were numbered 100001-up. Look at the last 6 digits of your VIN, and see where it falls. Early production 67 is said to have run until the later part of February.
This chart: General Info - Camaro FAQ shows the monthly VIN production for first gen's. Pay no attention to the first column (passenger cars), columns 2 & 3 pertain to Camaro.
The only thing I can think of making a difference between early and late trunk lids, could be the later lids may have had the access holes underneath for the spoiler.
Even though the prototype Z/28 that came out in 1966 had a rear spoiler, no 67's came with one. Perhaps GM was tooling up for the coming spoiler that didn't become available till the 68 model.
Physically, the 67-69 trunk lid is shaped/fit the same.

exactly what I was searching for. Thank you very much for your response and correct answer! I am not sure what could possible be that different on the underside of these deck lids, but must be something like you are saying. If they hold a latch and bolt down correctly, that's my main concern. Seems many of these aftermarket deck lids have messed up inner structures for some reason.
