Thumbs down Never rains but it pours - SS in the shop

Lots of lovely SS issues now that ~98k mi. have set-in:

1. Oil pan gasket leak
2. Rear main seal oil leak
3. Part-torn trans mount
4. Loose U-Joints may need replacement
5. Noisy alternator bearing squeak.
6. Passenger Window did not function, but now it magically does after I left the car at the shop (will have to probe the shop tech to find out if it was some electrical connection they jostled or reconnected)

#1 & 2 may be residual from my transmission replacement that happened a couple years ago.

# 3 & 4 both seem related to this slight slamming I feel upon acceleration even at parking lot speeds, and another issue where I get this fast vibration when I goose the throttle at around 60-65 and other speeds. But this same feeling is not noticeable when I gradually accelerate.

I keep recommending that these extended warranties have always paid for themselves on my Camaros -- mine is about to run out soon, many do not renew past 100k mi. or 10 years, but there are some that do... They don't cover everything, but cover the big expenses.

Update: Gotta laugh when the Service Consultant from the GM shop tells me they sprayed water on the belt and the noise went away -- WATER IS A SOLUTION?! WTF. The noise started only when the shop changed the alternator, then I changed both belts and the AC tensioner because they thought the spring was a little rusty and claimed that caused the sound back then.

I always complete my own labor so that sort of thing does not happen.

I would and agree, but I gotta get back my extended warranty investment.

I'm thinking about buying one of the extended warranties that I got offered through the mail. Hopefully the date for them isn't up. The one letter (got 2, don't know where the other one went) is from a "Protection Direct".

^ Mine is the same Ext. Warranty they offer through CarMax, but cheaper since I got mine through a Credit Union:

They all have their quirks -- be sure to read the full contract of what's covered and conditions, etc.

Update: supposed to pickup the car today, they also replaced a leaking Power Steering Pressure Hose I hadn't noticed, and they did replace the U-Joints. Supposedly they "cleaned up the belt", and there is no squeak right now (funny, how it's a new belt -- replaced after the shop swapped the alternator and squeaking started!). Also oddly the window issue has not returned according to them...

You know the ext. warranty paid a pretty penny for all this work... I have a $100 deductible.

I refuse to take my car to a shop unless it's ABSOLUTELY necessary. Never once have I gone to a shop and not left feeling like I've been screwed...

I'd rather attempt it like an idiot in my driveway, like my Mustang atm. Though I have to get the power steering hose in the Camaro replaced, and I don't exactly think I could do that myself.
