Default How will GM overpower Hellcat?

Do you think that General Motors will try to overpower the Hellcat Challenger with the Camaro, or will they leave that task to the Corvette?

being mostly a Mopar owner before i met my Chevy loving wife, here's my take on this topic.

personally, i never really liked the new Challengers. i think they are the overgrown red headed step child of the original car. probably the only reason Fiat (haha) made a 707 hp version is, it's the only way to get that fat pig out of it's own way. i own a 1970 chrysler newport that's as long as my '93 chevy pickup. the newport is 3950 lbs and the new challengers are almost 4300 lbs. put that biotch on a diet! and it's not like your gonna see a couple hellcats in every dealership in the country. starting at 82K, it's gonna be out of most people's price range. priced like a super car but looks like a every day joe. how many Vettes, Vipers or GT(40)s did you see coming with a 6 cylinder base motor and then you can opt for the Z06, V10 or the Supercharged5.4L. none! if i'm spending that kind of money, i want something unique, not "every day". sure, the collectors are gonna but them up. there's gonna be a lot of ooh and aah at first, but it's probably gonna be a short run, 2 maybe 3 years at best. GM would waste a lot of time and money if they tried to put something out like the hellcat. i say leave that kind of HP to the aftermarket.

The HellCat starts at around $60k, not $82k. It also weighs so much because of creature comforts and safety standards. Your Newport doesn't have a lot of that. Just FYI.

Personally, I don't see GM doing anything about it. 700HP is too much for most people. If I were Chrysler, I would require a driving course be taken in order to purchase the vehicle. Besides, power to weight ratio is the important factor, that's why the Vette is fast, light weight with decent HP/TQ, compared to say a semi that's pushing 600HP and 2000 ft-lbs. Then again the engine weighs as much as the Vette and then some.

I don't think so. both models have their different identities and specifics. It depends now to the buyers hehe

I personally think 707hp for a street driven car is a total waste. At what point is enough hp enough. But if people want it for bragging rights, by all means fork out the dough.

was not Cadillac comeing out with 600hp + engine 2015 ,my freind 2015 has a rt plus shaker ,in this area no one had a hellcat on the showroom floor said there was a waiting list ,I like them .but for the price tag I would rather have 10 4 th gens used ,if I had the room, now it looks like they are going down in value fast,of his rt has governer at 150 mph as well as I hear the hellcat does to ,wich can be easly unhooked,i agree 400hp is respectable for a street car ,if the demand is there ,they will go higher
