My lifters were noisey at start-up. I had my lifters replaced (L99 V8) with the new design liters. Runs great!

kicker210, if you're looking to get that tick noise taken care of a quick call to your dealer would be in order. They should be able to get this taken care of for you quickly. I hope to hear good things back if you do decide to take your vehicle in. I hope this suggestion helps you!

Hi, I'm new here, just purchased a 2010 2SS/RS, It seems that it has the common lifter noise. Has anyone tried using a heavier grade oil? I ran a 2004 LS6 for 10 years. Serviced it regularly and did oil samples every service using Mobil 1, I went to Lucas 15-50 and took oil samples to confirm the wear metals between the 2 oils. Lucas out performed the Mobil 1 by almost 100%. All metal particle readings were halved. After a couple of years I started to notice a very slight coolant contamination in the oil. Not visible but a slight rise in part / million readings in the Oil Sample Report (Steel Head Gaskets), Ripped the heads off, replace Cam, Lifters, Springs, Pushrods, all with Compcams (Thumper) and continued with Lucas Oil. Has anyone run the L99 on a heavier Grade of oil, this could also shut up the noisy lifter or will it upset the VVT system? Our climate is not as harsh here, always above "0"
Regards

David:
The L99 is designed to use synthetic oil? The problem is with the design of then lifters. Chevy redesigned the lifters. I had the new lifers put in my Camaro. What a difference. The engine ran better, the idle was smoother and the exhaust sounded better. See your local Chevy dealer to see if they will replace the lifters with the new design at no cost to you.

Thanx,

Hi, Thanks Bobby, the only issue that I have in New Zealand is that there are no Chevy dealers here only Australian Holden (GM) Dealers.
Is it possible to get me the New GM Part number for the new Lifter.
Regards David.

Thumbs up Lifter chatter

Hi, my Lifter noise has virtually been eliminated by purchasing a mail-order tune from Texas speed. They have reprogramed the L99 fuel management function out of the engine. I do not have black dribble lines from the exhaust system any more either. Very happy with the tune, a noticeable performance difference. regards

David
