Default gear ratios, 2012 2LT, MN6

Hi, folks. New here - first Camaro or car like it (and loving it) after 43 years of driving and 34 years of car ownership(s). I've had very nice sport-sedans, long ago a low-powered but very enjoyable Toyota Celica, but nothing like this.

I cannot find anything in the GM literature nor on the Net about gear ratios for the 5th-gen Camaros. It's been a while since I've driven stick (loving it!), and I was initially surprised by the jump from 2nd to 3rd.

From the tach, however accurate that is, I have noted these numbers, attempting to round it to the 50's:

2012 Camaro 2LT gear ratios
-by observation diff ratio
speed 60 ratio
1 4500 2.57
2 3750 2.14 0.83 1.20
3 2350 1.34 0.63 1.60
4 1750 1.00 0.74 1.34
5 1450 0.83 0.83 1.21
6 1150 0.66 0.79 1.26

That's not quite formatting properly, but I think it is decipherable. The speed is in km/hr (Canada - happy Canada Day, by the way), and I used 60 which is roughly 40 mph. I've used 4th gear as the reference - it might be 5th, actually, that's a straight 1:1; don't know.

So, for example, the ratio from 2nd to 3rd is 0.63 or 1.60 (by my calculations), depending on which way you look at it.

Do these data seem about right?

I have other questions about the transmission, but one thing at a time.

Thank you.

Charles

From what I found, the gear ratios for the V8 is:

1st Gear: 3.01
2nd Gear: 2.07
3rd Gear: 1.43
4th Gear: 1.00
5th Gear: 0.84
6th Gear: 0.57
Reverse: 3.28

I believe there are 3-4 different gear ratios available with the TR6060. With that trans now being used in the vettes, vipers and gt500, Tremec made so many different gear sets available to the manufacturers that its tough to say. It might be best to call your dealership with your vin number handy and have them run it for you

Your 2LT (V6) has the Aisin AY6, not the Tremec TR6060 that came in the SS model.
Gear ratios for Camaro application are:
1st: 4.48
2nd: 2.58
3rd: 1.63
4th: 1.19
5th: 1.00
6th: .75
Reverse: 3.67
Rear axle: 3.27

Thank you, Senior Moderator Camaro 69. I'm interested in how you know those numbers, but I accept them as authoritative.

And I was pretty close on all of them, when reworking it using 5th as "straight" (instead of 4th), except for 1st gear.
