Default What is skip shift?

Forgive me for my ignorance, but what is skip shift? While looking through websites I found this skip shift eliminator. Is this for the 6 speed manual or automatic?

http://westcoastcamaro.com/p-47-2010...liminator.aspx

Thanks,
Mike

skip shift is for the manual trans i believe it forces you to go from 1st to 3rd when you bring the rpms up to conserve fuel

Thanks for the explanation. That sounds lame, to conserve fuel? Well, that will never happen.

Yep, it's a solenoid buried within the manual transmission that when activated, forces a 1st -> 4th shift. It only happens with a light acceleration and when shifting in a certain speed window.

Some get by it with fast starts/shifting early. Others use a resistor in the line (or the eliminator you found).

I had mine tuned out. It's a pain in the butt.

in 3k miles I've only hit it twice, my guess... it'd be a real pain in city driving.

Default What is skipshift.

I had it in my 98 Z. It will not allow a shift to 2d from 1st at certain RPMs. For the problem on my 98, I bought a CAGS plug in for around $30 bucks then. I now own a L99 and don't have to worry about it.

you can purchase a skip-shift eliminator pretty much at any shop online. it's like $20 - $30 and will get rid of it without having to tune.
